2020, the year of the plague

So everyone knows, 2020 has been a tough year. Whether you’re in the events industry or not, you know what an impact this pandemic has had on the entire gig economy. Thankfully, things haven’t been quite so bleak here at Majical Youth HQ, as we feverishly worked, we were able to secure not one, but TWO rounds of funding from the Arts Council of Wales and the National Lottery.

Because of this amazing support we have been able to sustain our business, remodel to the changing times, and through it all, we even managed to hold a socially-distanced kids camp here at our base in Pembrokeshire. We ran this for just over a week, and it was a resounding success! Smiles on everyones faces, children running around screaming with joy, activities, educational stories, nothing could make us more pleased.

We also for the very first time, launched Majical Youth online! We started around August, when our biggest festival is usually due to happen. With more than 2700 views across the weekend, this was a resounding success and put into motion further plans, for Majical Youth’s online presence.

And so an idea was born, Majical Youth Tell-Your-Vision!

We have ran an online livestreamed TV show each week since late-October specifically designed for children, to be fun, inspiring, and educational for all ages. We have been reaching a consistent 1000+ views for almost every episode, we have been very proud of what we have managed to achieve, and more importantly how many children we have managed to reach!

So with this, here we are. At the end of a very strange, tough, exciting year, and with a vaccine being rolled out this very week of writing, it’s looking more and more likely for festivals to be back on again next year! (Fingers crossed!)

We are so proud of every single person we have worked with, and so many people have come forward to us to commend the work we are doing, and so many children tell us on a weekly basis how much fun they are having, how happy they are to still be connected with their favourite festival group.

We hope to see you in a field, or on a screen, very soon, and welcome any and all people who have found out about Majical Youth because of the online work we have done!

Thanks again to the Arts Council of Wales and National Lottery fund, for the amazing support you have given us, enabling us to do all of this and more.

Stay tuned, see you soon!
