Majical Youth goes online!
As things changed in the festival landscape, we decided to have a think about what we do, and how we can still do that with all the lockdowns. So we, for the very first time, launched Majical Youth online! We started around August, when our biggest festival is usually due to happen. With more than 2700 views across the weekend, this was a resounding success and put into motion further plans, for Majical Youth’s online presence.
This idea then sat with us for a couple more months having successfully delivered an online event, and since late-October, we have ran an online livestreamed TV show each week specifically designed for children, to be fun, inspiring, and educational for all ages. We have been reaching a consistent 1000+ views for almost every episode, we have been very proud of what we have managed to achieve, and more importantly how many children we have managed to reach!

Kids Area vs The Levellers
Back in August we decided to take Majical Youth online for the VERY FIRST time, on the very weekend when the festival Beautiful Days would normally fall. Because of everything this year, unfortunately the festival itself was cancelled, but we couldn't bear to let the weekend go unnoticed, so we took a Beautiful Days tradition - The Levellers vs The Kids area, and went online.
Guests include Fiery Jack, Matt and Chaz of the levellers, and more! As this was our first online venture, we hit a technical hitch part way through where the livestream went down, and so there is a short section of video missing in the middle - our apologies!! We're constantly improving our tech skills. :)
Majical Youth’s Tell-Your-Vision shows
Episode 1 - hALLOWEEEEEN!
This episode is our inaugural Majical Youth Tell-Your-Vision show, where we look into Halloween traditions from around the world, looking at different religious perspectives too.
We also show you some fun Halloween crafts, feature our weekly Positive News segment and you will get to meet the unbeatable Jez Mansfield, our in-house magician extraordinaire for some Halloween trickery.... there might be witches involved! :O
ePISODE 2 - Guy Fawkes & Bonfire Night
Here on episode two of our Majical Youth's Tell-Your-Vision show, we take a dive into history, to the year 1605, to find out all about the gunpowder plot, learn about Guy Fawkes (who's real name is Guido!) and we take a look at the different ways that bonfire night is celebrated.... one of which includes running around with burning barrels of tar!! How scary!
There will be the usual Crafty Corner featuring, as well as the fantastic resident magic man, Jez Mansfield returning to your screens... and this week is the first time our "Delicious Delectable Delights" segment is featured, with some absolutely gorgeous cookery treats! :)
episode 3 - Diwali Special
This Saturday was Diwali - the Hindu celebration of light! In this episode we visit our friends in Pushkar, India to take a look at some traditional Diwali celebrations, including Rangoli designs and even making a Diya lamp!
We have everything in this episode, ranging from a classic section of positive news to remind people of the good things happening in the world, right through to making traditional Diwali sweets, and of course our favourite magician Jez Mansfield is back to amaze, puzzle and make you laugh! :D
episode 4 - Native American Heritage
November 2020 is Native American Heritage month, so here at Majical Youth HQ we decided to contact a few of our friends over in America, and put on a Native American Heritage special, where we will be learning all about some traditions celebrated, as well as how they are celebrated.
For our Crafty corner, we have a very special guest, Michella, who joins us all the way from Oklahoma, USA, to teach us how to make our very own dreamcatchers! We also have the hilarious Jez fumbling along trying to make his own... you'll have to watch to see what happens! Fun, hilarity, informational, educational, this is why we do it!
episode 5 - wales
In this episode we take a look at something a little closer to home (for us!)... Wales!
We love being based in Wales, there's lots of mystery and culture that surrounds us here, so we would like to take you all on an educational journey about this small portion of island with such a strong culture and history.
We unfortunately had terrible internet problems this week, as well as our host having tooth problems, so although this episode is not our finest work, we wanted to put it out there for you all to have some fun and perhaps learn something you didn't already know.
episode 6 - Festival Edition
We decided for our 6th episode of Majical Youth's Tell-Your-Vision that we would discuss something we are all missing right now here at Majical Youth HQ... festivals! We have been working at various festivals for a long time, its what we love to do... and with these strange times currently, we're not too sure what festivals are going to look like in the future, so this is our opportunity to look at the festival life and culture of today, and years passed!
episode 7 - christmas special!
Make sure to tune into the first of our Christmas themed episodes, where we have the chance to visit a particularly special guest, who's suddenly become very busy at this time of the year... hmmmm. We are also very lucky to have the fantastic Jez Mansfield and his glamourous assistant Emma, to join us all for some environmentally-friendly magic... all this and more this episode!
Episode 8 - Crafty corner
This week on Majical Youth TV, we decided as we're getting deep into December at this point, and the festive buzz is starting to take hold, that we would share some Christmas inspired crafts for all to get involved in at home. This episode features our fantastic crafty Clair, and returning to our screens is the amazing Molly from Madhatter Crafts.

This very special episode of Majical Youth's Tell-Your-Vision is our last episode of 2020, where we were very lucky to have the fantastic Jez and Emma returning to our screens to amaze and baffle us, and for this very special episode we also had ANOTHER guest magician join us on screen - really big thankyou to Andy Strange for taking the time out to join us.
Also includes guest spots from people like the fantastic Gordon Rhymes and his one-man-band, as well as some balloon art!
episode 10 - RSPB Crafts
This was our first Tell-Your-Vision special of 2021... the favourite things to do in 2020, chosen by the viewers, was our fantastic Crafty Corner!
So to kick off 2021 we have had an amazing special with the fantastic Molly from Madhatter Crafts, focusing on RSPB and what we can do to help the birds and wildlife of our local areas. Bird feeders, fairy castles and much more...
episode 11 - craftivism, paper crafts!
We are back again, this week with the fantastic Crafty Clair of D.I.Y Art Lab (https://www.facebook.com/diykidsartcraftivist) to learn a bit about craftivism, what it is, and how you can use crafting activities to promote social awareness and direct action towards injustice in this world. It's a wonderfully fun episode full of paper crafts, even featuring a guest presentation from one of our regular viewers who wanted to show us how to make awesome flying paper bats!
